PAY Studio finishes ‘Battle of Warsaw’ 3D movie on Quantel Stereo3D Pablo
Leading Polish post house upgrades and completes Poland’s first major S3D movie
Leading Warsaw-based post house PAY Studio has upgraded its Pablo with 4K, Stereo3D and the Neo panel. The system has immediately been put into action finishing Poland’s first major 3D movie ‘Battle of Warsaw’.
“Our Pablo system has been at the heart of our workflow for several years now, working principally on commercials, major TV series and movies for the Polish market,” said Monika Jakutowicz, PAY Studio colorist and 3D artist. “Upgrading the system to 4K and Stereo3D operation means that we can carry out the highest quality digital intermediates and color correction for 2D movies. And it also enables us to break into the exciting new 3D movie business, as our work on Jerzy Hoffman’s ‘Battle of Warsaw’ illustrates – we did the entire color correction and Stereo3D post on the Pablo, as well as the titles.”
“We looked at other options for stereoscopic work, but there is nothing to match the Pablo’s comprehensive S3D workflow. It’s got all the color and other finishing tools we need in one room, a brilliant interface in the Neo panel and a good Stereo3D toolset that Quantel continues to develop,” Jakutowicz continued. “We wouldn’t have been able to complete ‘Battle of Warsaw’ in the short timescale required without Pablo. The ability to grade the left and right eyes in parallel and the new stereo balancing and fixing tools were particularly useful.”
“We have moved early into the Stereo3D market because we think it will continue to grow rapidly as a movie, and later, TV format; it’s just a matter of time, reducing the costs of S3D production and in the case of TV, waiting for consumers to make the next move to 3D-enabled TVs. Wherever the market moves, PAY Studio will be at the forefront, continuing to develop and exploit all the latest technologies,” Jakutowicz concluded.
