Stereolabs Introduces Next Generation 3D Workflow at NAB Show
Production is now fully automated and 3D quality control expands into postproduction
Stereolabs, leading provider of Stereo3D solutions for the broadcast and movie industry, will present at NAB 2013 (booth OE957) significant new innovations that enable leaner and faster 3D content production and quality control.
PURE gets automated S3D control capabilities
AutoCon, a revolutionary depth control technology is now integrated in PURE™ stereo image processor. AutoCon introduces automatic rig interaxial and convergence adjustment based on scene depth. Designed for broadcast and film production, the technology computes in real-time a dense depth map of the scene and adjusts automatically the rig interaxial and convergence to improve the 3D experience while preserving viewers’ visual comfort.
“We have been working on this technology for the past three years.” said Edwin Azzam, CTO, Stereolabs. “AutoCon has reached an exceptional level of performance and reliability. It perfectly replicate the behavior of a convergence puller, maintaining visual comfort, reacting quickly to rapid changes and constantly optimizing the 3D experience within the depth budget set for the production.”
At NAB, a complete PURE system with the latest AutoCon and Auto-Alignment technologies will be showcased with a fully motorized Lightweight rig from Stereotec on Stereolabs booth #OE957.
PURE On-Set now compatible with AJA Io XT
Compact and lightweight, PURE On-Set™ extends PURE capabilities to feature film productions, documentaries and fast-moving shoots. PURE On-Set v1.3 adds compatibility with AJA Io XT, offering much more flexibility in the field. The update also includes an improved metadata logging system that can record real world values of Zoom, Iris, Focus, Interaxial and Convergence, reducing considerably the amount of time spent on correctly rendering visual effects in post-production.
VERITY offers new tools to check S3D quality
Stereolabs announces the release of VERITY™ v1.3, a significant update to its automated quality control application for file-based stereo. VERITY v1.3 introduces new depth tests and representation tools to simplify the error identification process in postproduction and ensure viewers’ visual comfort. A playback system is also now available in VERITY to enable users to visually check video files and QC reports directly within the application.
“VERITY is the first solution to introduce standardized, objective and shareable metrics to measure the quality of stereoscopic content.” said Cecile Schmollgruber, CEO of Stereolabs. “It enables content providers to deliver a comfortable 3D experience to viewers and build a reputation for quality.”
Updates in VERITY 1.3 include:
• Improved depth analysis system with depth charts and depth transition checks.
• New playback system with QC import for errors visualization.
• New template management system that facilitates the exchange of test standards between content providers, post-production houses and broadcasters.
• Screen size selection that automatically adjusts depth budget and visual comfort verifications depending on the target medium: Cinema, TV, PC, Tablet, Smartphone.
• Custom analysis options for checking specific errors in a frame.
• Improved user interface and QC reporting.
The new 3D solutions will be showcased at the NAB Show booth OE957. The 2013 NAB Show is held at Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada USA from April 8 – 11.
