Saturday, September 22nd at 9:00 PM, presented by 3opolis, 3net, Ultra-D & LG Electronics
Quincy Jones and the Global Gumbo All-Stars treated downtown Los Angeles to a free live performance at The Mixing Room at JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE. Quincy was live on stage with a collection of the best and brightest young musicians he has discovered on the planet. Together, the Global Gumbo All-Stars— Greg Phillinganes, Alfredo Rodriguez, Francisco Mela, Andreas Varady, Peter Slavov and Nikki Yanofsky—created a global mix of jazz styles from Cuba, Brazil, Canada, Africa and the USA.
The Global Gumbo All-Stars’ first performance was filmed live in 3D at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2010 with special guest Herbie Hancock and was released as a 60-minute feature, “Quincy Jones and the Global Gumbo All-Stars Live at Montreux.” The 3D films are playing continuously at the Grammy Museum following this last Thursday’s world premiere documentary “Experience Montreux” at the 3D film festival at L.A. Live downtown Los Angeles.
At 7:00pm, the Grammy Museum L.A. Live showed the 3D feature “Quincy Jones and the Global Gumbo All-Stars Live at Montreux” in the Clive Davis Theatre. At the Museum shortly thereafter, Quincy Jones and Montreux Jazz Festival founder Claude Nobs hosted a Q&A session then moved down the alley to the Mixing Room at JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live for a 9:00pm (approximate time) performance. This surprise performance was also shown live on LG CINEMA 3D TV’s.
In addition, in a live 3D first, a special 3DTV Patio adjacent to the Mixing Room broadcast the performance live on glasses-free 3D screens using Ultra-D technology from Stream TV Networks, enabling guests to experience the show live in 3D without glasses for the very first time.
“This is the 5th year for our 3D Film Festival, and we are so happy to share the legendary Quincy Jones’ latest project with the world live and in 3D at The Mixing Room at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live,” concludes Christopher Crescitelli, founder of the 3DFF.
