Dimenco unveils @DEPTH 3D Editing and Semi-Automated 2D Conversion Suite at IBC 2012
Post-production software that solves the hurdle of 3D content by offering an advanced set of 3D content creation tools that convert’s 2D video content to 3D and allows editing of 3D stereo content.
Dimenco announced today that it will showcase the capabilities of its 3D content-enabling software @DEPTH, for converting existing high-definition 2D content into 3D, and editing professional stereo video footage to convert this to any auto-stereoscopic format at IBC in Amsterdam from 7th – 11th of Sept.
@DEPTH, based on Philips and Dolby technology, empowers content creators and post-production companies cost-effective (semi-automatic) and high quality offline conversion of existing 2D video content to any 3D content format that the user requires. An operator can manually indicate depth information to key-frames. The software uses these to automatically calculate the depth information for each of the image frames of the remaining part of that scene.
Next to converting 2D content, @DEPTH is the perfect tool to edit 3D stereo-content. It calculates fully-automated the depth information from high-definition stereo content, using the disparity between the left and right image. This gives the user the ability to compose shots, edit the amount of depth per frame and finishing for different targets.
The depth information can be used to generate a high-quality stereo or auto-stereo (glasses-free) 3D image and previews of the converted content can be shown in real-time on a Dimenco glasses-free 3D display or a traditional glasses based Stereo 3D display.
“@DEPTH will be a milestone release that pushes the boundaries of conversion and editing with incredible speed and performance” says Maarten Tobias CEO of Dimenco. “It complements current work-flows and makes it the perfect tool for creative professionals in the 3D post-production industry.”
