France Télévisions and Orange Announce 3D Coverage of the London Olympics 2012
From July 25 to August 12, France Télévisions will broadcast the 2012 Olympics by offering viewers nearly 300 hours of live on France 2, France 3, France 4 France Ô.
France Televisions also wishes to offer viewers innovative programmes and will offer a channel devoted to 3D retransmission of Olympic competitions from July 28 to August 12.
Available on channel 333 via Orange TV, this service, called francetvsport 3D will have daily coverage of Olympic competitions in 3D including athletics, basketball, canoe slalom, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, swimming, synchronized swimming, diving, trampoline, etc. In total over 200 hours of 3D footage will be broadcast.
The channel 333 on Orange TV is available to all customers of Orange broadband.
Orange and France Télévisions collaboration at the heart of the 3D
Since 2008, Orange and France Télévisions have conducted various experiments using 3D to offer viewers a new way to watch TV.
This year Orange and France Télévisions have continued their collaboration covering the Roland Garros French Tennis Open, and have also conducted other experiments including the documentary “The World’s Largest Forest”, a documentary series of six episodes shot in native 3D.
3D retransmission of the London Olympic Games marks a new stage of collaboration between Orange and France Télévisions and offers viewers a unique experience at the heart of this iconic sporting event.
