Big Pic Media Adds Convergent Design’s Gemini 4:4:4 Recorder to its OnSet Workflow Products
Big Pic Media are proud to announce the immediate availability of the Gemini 4:4:4 HD and ArriRaw uncompressed recorder. This adds to our portfolio of OnSet workflow products, including Pandora’s “Pluto” colour management, S3D and LUT processor; Yoyotta’s “Yoyo” transcoding and dailies management system; and the Marvin automated dailies generator and LTO5 backup system.
The latest firmware for the Gemini adds 16:9 ArriRaw certified recording, up to 60 fps, to the existing uncompressed RGB 4:4:4 (as DPX). The next release (July) will add full ArriRaw 4:3 support up to 48 fps.
(NB ArriRaw capability is a paid option, but all units are shipped with a demo version of ArriRaw for testing that offers full capability but with a grey bar watermark that is removed after the option is enabled).
Convergent Design’s Gemini 4:4:4 is the must have accessory for anyone operating the latest digital cinema cameras, such as the Arri Alexa, Sony PMW F3 or Sony F35/65. With the latest firmware release – an ArriRaw certified optional upgrade plus 3G and Dual Link 4:4:4/4:2:2 – this lightweight recorder will capture all the nuances of your vision in uncompressed RGB 4:4:4 or YUV 4:2:2 DPX files or ArriRaw format (for Alexa). Additionally, the next planned release (July ’12) will contain an upgrade option for ArriRaw 4:3; to allow the two HD-SDI inputs to be configured for dual 3D 4:4:4/4:2:2 recording or simultaneous recording of the same clip to both cards, plus adding support for 2K (2048 X 1080) and 720p50/60. (NB: ArriRaw support is installed by default with the latest upgrade, but with a watermark that is removed when the optional ArriRaw license is purchased, allowing full testing.)
