Dimension 3 Wraps Up 6th Edition as the Strategic Event Dedicated to New Images
Dimension 3 6th edition took place from June 13th to June 15th in the Paris suburb of Saint-Denis. Once again, Dimension 3 proved it was a major european event regarding the promotion of new technologies, welcoming several exclusives and previews
The presentation of new softwares and applications were programmed for the first time in Europe, such as Steroid for Pretend or Smoke on Mac for Autodesk Also, Dimension 3 offered 3 days of conferences dedicated to 3D and the new images with prestigious speakers such as Pierre Buffin (Buf founder), Charlotte Jones (HIS/ Screen Digest), Sandra Karpmann (Pixar), Bruno Mahe and John R.A. Benson (Illumination Mac Guff), Joe Nakata (Sony 3D department manager in Japan). The Future of 3D, the 4K, the augmented reality, the new tools for teaching were among the presented topics Conferences delivered essential key knowledge to understand the industry’s improvements.
With its 75 partners, sponsors and exhibitors, but also with its first S3D contents market, Dimension 3 really represented a first rate business event for image industry professionals who have been able to sign contracts and seal partnerships, for equipment or production.
The S3D Campus training session that took place at the heart of the Dimension 3 Forum was also a great success. This training titled “Produce and Sell a S3D Feature or Documentary” and supported by the European Media programme, gathered 30 European producers who had been able to learn essential knowledge but also enjoy pitching sessions to develop synergies around S3D projects in progress or about to be created.
Regarding the Festival, more than 100 international programs were competing. Eventually, only 35 were nominated in 13 categories. Space Junk (Melrae Pictures LLC, a visually explosive journey that weighs the solutions aimed at restoring our planet’s orbits received the Grand Prize/ Seine-Saint-Denis Prize.
Dimension 3 visitors also had the opportunity to view the avant-première of the Illumination Mac Guff animation movie The Lorax (release on July, 18th).
During Dimension 2012, 23 countries were represented: Germany, England, Austria, Belgium, Scotland, Finland, Spain, the United States of America, Russia, Switzerland, Colombia, Korea, Japan, France, Czech Republic, Brazil, Canada, China, Ivory Coast, United Arab Emirates, Latvia, Italia, Poland.
Dimension 3 is an event co produced by Seine Saint Denis, Seine Saint Denis Avenir and Avance Rapide Communication in synergy with Futur en Seine.
