At IBC2011 Doremi is presenting its latest technology to further enhance audience experience of 3D and digital cinema up to 4K. Format converters for baseband and file-based content – including 3D – are also on show. The latest Doremi digital cinema products feature the world’s leading DCI players as well as mastering systems.

NEW! GENeration-3D

GENeration-3D is a 3D test pattern generator. It includes a pre-loaded internal 3D test pattern as well as facilities to load additional custom 3D test patterns via a front-access SD card slot.

GENeration-3D is designed as a universal tool to fit in with virtually all currently used 3D video formats including 2K 24fps and 1080p up to 60 fps. It also includes genlock and multiple output colour modes as well as 3D depth control.

It can provide all widely used 3D formats including Dual Stream, Side by Side, Top/Bottom, Line by Line, Checkerboard, Full Resolution Frame Packing, Left Only and Right only. The output colorspace can be selected as RGB709, YCbCr709, XYZ’ or YCxCz’.

Housed in a 1RU chassis control is provided directly on the front panel or via an infrared remote or through a USB connection. Adjustments include 3D depth control.

NEW! FCP plug-in creates DCPs

The new Doremi Final Cut Pro plug-in provides an easy-to-use straightforward way to create unencrypted Digital Cinema Packages (DCP) directly from a Final Cut Pro timeline. This effectively adds the power of Doremi’s CineAsset software-based digital cinema mastering solution, complete with its robust encoding algorithms, to Final Cut Pro on Mac OS-X.

The plug-in enables the creation of 2K, 4K and 3D DCPs with a choice of popular codecs (JPEG2000 and MPEG2) and colorspaces. For example, using the JPEG2000 codec, XYZ’ (YCxCz’ for 3D) colorspace conversion and MXF wrapper enables exporting footage directly from the Final Cut Pro timeline as an unencrypted DCI-compliant DCP. Once exported, the DCP can be ingested into any standard digital cinema server.

The FCP plug-in is available as a standalone product and is also included in the CineAsset software mastering solution that runs on Windows as well as Mac OS-X platforms. Both products are ideal for exhibitors themselves to assemble pre-show adverting and locally sourced material which can then be included in the cinema’s playlist alongside the main feature.
