devolo Shows dLAN 500 AVtriple+ Powerline Adapter for HD and 3D Video Transmission Throughout the Home
With 48,000 visitors from over 140 countries, the renowned International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) numbers among the world’s most important technology fairs in the area of broadcast and media entertainment. From 9 to 13 September 2011, devolo will be presenting its innovative powerline solutions to the trade visitors in Amsterdam’s exhibition centre RAI. In Hall 13 at Stand 273 of the IPTV zone, the Aachen, Germany-based powerline specialist will present two new products for the areas of hybrid TV and powerline signal distribution. In addition, the entire dLAN portfolio will be exhibited in its diversity, from the dLAN 200 Wireless N Adapter with its integrated WLAN module to the dLAN 500 AVplus.
dLAN 500 AVtriple+ – Internet for all
With the dLAN 500 AVtriple+, devolo is expanding its offering of innovative powerline adapters in the 500-Mbps segment. “Thanks to the option of connecting up to three network-compatible consumer electronic devices or computers, the dLAN 500 AVtriple+ is the ideal all-in-one product for multimedia home networking,” remarks Heiko Harbers, CEO of devolo AG. The adapter enables data transmission that is faster than WLAN and even than a classic wired connection with Fast Ethernet network components – for reliable and stable HD and 3D video transmission throughout the home. The compact dLAN 500 AVtriple+ has three gigabit network ports, so that all appropriately equipped consumer electronics devices and computers can be directly connected. The dLAN 500 AVtriple+ also has an integrated electrical socket, making it ideal for use wherever only a few power outlets are available in the house. Another plus: The integrated mains filter significantly improves the quality of the data transmission. The dLAN 500 AVtriple+ will be available in the fourth quarter of 2011.
Hybrid TV solution dLAN TV Sat 2400-CI+
With the new dLAN TV Sat generation 2400-CI+, devolo is showing a new innovative solution at the IBC 2011 for HDTV reception via the powerline as part of hybrid TV solutions. Hybrid TV enables Internet service providers to provide comprehensive IPTV programming, even in regions with relatively poor broadband network infrastructure. While content for which latency and bandwidth are critical—such as that of the media library—continues to be loaded via the DSL network, live TV formats reach the house by satellite.
The dLAN TV Sat 2400-CI+ consists of a high-performance Full HD-capable satellite receiver in accordance with the DVB-S2 standard. The system is capable of sending multiple HD streams simultaneously via the powerline and, thanks to an integrated CI/CI+ slot, it is ideally suited for pay TV offerings. With UPNP and DLNA certification, the device is also suitable for reception of multimedia data from the home network or an Internet service provider. The front and back sides each have a USB port for connecting USB mass storage devices for particularly efficient video recording and archiving. An Electronic Programme Guide can be used for easily planning all the recordings you want. The intuitive graphic user interface on the connected TV set and the 7-segment display on the receiver make it possible to operate the device immediately. The dLAN TV Sat 2400-CI+ will be available in the fourth quarter of 2011.
“With the new dLAN TV Sat generation we have responded to the increased requirements from the ISP and telecommunications industry and implemented them in an innovative HDTV solution,” remarks Heiko Harbers, CEO of devolo AG, concerning the new product presentation at the IBC 2011. “Particularly the support of pay TV and multimedia playback via UPNP or DLNA networks make the PLC digital receiver a full-fledged solution for state-of-the-art home cinema. It also offers a high degree of investment protection, since even today it is ready for the exclusively digital satellite transmission as of April 2012, and it can be used anywhere due to its integrated powerline technology.”
The dLAN portfolio at the IBC 2011
In addition to the presentation of the successful dLAN 500 AVplus, dLAN 500 AVmini, and dLAN 200 AV Wireless N dLAN adapters, other innovative adapter variants are being exhibited at the IBC 2011. The dLAN 500 AVplus has the same design as the triple model, but only one network port. Alongside the presentation of its dLAN 500 products, devolo is completing the dLAN 200 AV portfolio with the dLAN 200 AV Wireless N: The compact dLAN adapter is equipped with an internal WLAN antenna and enables WLAN zones to be set up quickly and easily for wireless surfing in the dLAN network. Support of the fast WiFi N standard ensures that the full dLAN bandwidth of 200 Mbps is used. In addition, the adapter, like the dLAN 500 AVtriple+, has three Ethernet sockets and thus is the ideal product for operating multiple network-compatible devices on one dLAN adapter.
