Sony Europe and 3D Impact Media Announce Joint 3D Digital Signage Marketing Venture
Sony Europe announced a joint venture marketing alliance with Swiss-based 3D Impact Media to provide 3D Digital Signage in the B2B market which does not require the use of specially adapted glasses.
The announcement follows on from a successful trial of the technology at a Swiss-based electronics retailer, who have agreed to roll-out the solution to a further 10 stores within the coming months.
Matt Smith, B2B Application Specialist – Retail and Hospitality, Sony Professional Solutions Europe said, “This is a significant step for Sony in becoming a key player in the 3D B2B Digital Signage market. Combining the advanced cell processing power of Sony’s Play Station® 3 with 3D Impact Media’s outstanding auto-stereoscopic technology will make us a market leader in this fast-growing market sector.”
Michael Kronenberg, CEO and founder of 3D Impact Media added, “Working with Sony, we can offer a unique 3D user experience to the market. Our research recently conducted by Millward Brown suggests that the 3D B2B Digital Signage market is set to explode over the coming year and the ROI seen by our customers suggest some remarkable sales uplift figures.”
Sony’s Ziris Canvas 3D, which uses 3D auto-stereoscopic displays, allows viewers to see digital signage in “true” 3D, meaning there is no need to wear specially adapted glasses to visualise the 3D effect. In practice, this means that you can see images “popping” out of the screen. The effect is breathtaking and feedback from passers-by continues to impress.
The specially manufactured solution by Sony is now available to order.
