LG Hosts 3D Gaming Championship in Dubai
UAE gamers are currently battling it out in the UAE’s first-ever 3D gaming championship, powered by LG Electronics, at the Living Rooms video games café in Dubai Festival City.
Over the next six months competitors will go head to head testing their skills to the max using LG’s groundbreaking CINEMA 3D SMART TV technology. Contestants will be whittled down through a series of knock-out stages, leaving the UAE’s top group of gamers competing in the final round on 6 January 2012. Four will be crowned UAE 3D gaming champions.
Each winner will get an LG 3D package including a 42″ CINEMA 3D SMART TV, 3D laptop, Optimus 3D mobile phone, 3D monitor, a state-of-the-art gaming console and the cherry on top: a trophy and certificate.
Participants can choose from four games including Call of Duty: Black Ops, FIFA ’11, Dance Central and Dirt 3.
All games will be played on the recently-launched Next Generation LG CINEMA 3D SMART TV, which converts 2D game content to 3D, without any flicker or blur.
“Our CINEMA 3D SMART technology has heightened the gaming experience dramatically. By engaging directly with gamers we see how much we have enhanced their gaming experience through our technology. The CINEMA 3D SMART TV is the gamers’ television of choice,” said Mr. H.S. Paik, President of LG Electronics Gulf FZE at the launch event.
Each of the four Mega Champions will receive an array of LG products, and the bragging rights of being one of the UAE’s 3D gaming champions. One such gamer dreaming of the title is Ali Zghaibi, a 15-year old high school student from Jordan, who won the opening round with Call of Duty.
Zghaibi said: “I’ve been playing Call of Duty nearly every day so I think I can win, although it’s completely different in 3D, which I was blown away by. When you put on the glasses you feel like you’re in the game, especially with all the bullets coming toward you.”
Living Rooms was chosen as the location for the 3D Gaming Festival because of its relaxing, welcoming ambiance and wide range of the latest games for the most state-of-the-art video game systems.
Registration for the championship is still open to gamers aged 12 and above. To enter, candidates can log on to the LG Gulf Fan Club Facebook page at www.facebook.com/lggulffanclub. Participants can take part only once in any game within the same week.
