LC-Tec and Seiko Show Prototypes for Active Retarder 3D Displays
The cooperation between LC-Tec Displays AB (LC-Tec) and Seiko Instruments Inc. (SII) announced on November 19, 2010, is progressing according to plan. The first 15.6” polarization modulator prototypes for active retarder 3D displays were demonstrated at SID Display Week, 49th International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition in Los Angeles, US, during May 17th – 19th, 2011.
The cooperation between the companies has been focused on joint development with respect to a high-speed liquid crystal device for stereoscopic 3D applications. The first prototypes to come out if this cooperation is the 15.6” polarization modulator for active retarder 3D display, but at a later stage both larger-sized polarization modulators up to 21” as well as shutter lenses for active 3D glasses will be demonstrated.
