Sony Introduces Stereoscopic 3D Support DFS-900M Multi-Format Production Switcher
The DFS-900M is a multi-format HD and SD production switcher featuring a 3RU compact processor with optional redundant power supply, 8 inputs and 4 outputs which are expandable up to 24-inputs and12-outputs of HD/SD-SDI. It also offers 6 keyers (4 full function keys including Chroma key + 2 DSK), up to 6 channels of 3D DVE (including warp), 4 channels of frame memory, and up to 2 sets of multi-viewer outputs that allow for the display of 4, 10, or 16 split screens on a single monitor.
A new 1.5M/E Control Panel (BKDF-902) delivers features such as independent auxiliary output control buttons and built-in redundant power supply that make the 1.5M/E control panel and efficient and powerful tool for today’s live production environments. Also available is the BKDF-901 1M/E control panel that offers high performance at an affordable price point.
The switcher is now equipped with version 2.0 software which introduces a number of new features. The first major feature included in the software update is Stereoscopic 3D support, allowing users to easily configure a low-cost 3D multi-camera live system. External device control is also supported which allows users to make ‘clip-transition’ effects by using a simple clip server. This allows computer graphic clip videos to be inserted when switching between sources. Audio and time code bypass mode is supported for live broadcast operation.
Other features include optional touch-screen display support for quick access to settings and a variety of optional accessories including HD/SD SDI input and output boards with built-in format converters, new analogue composite and component video input and output boards (BKDF-911/961) and new DVI-I input and output boards (BKDF-912/962) for PC source input and consumer TV/projector display.
