JMR and Fusion-io Provide 5K Stereoscopic Playback
Combination of Native PCIe Non-Volatile ioMemory and PCIe Systems Provides 5K Stereoscopic Playback at NAB 2011
JMR Electronics, Inc., a leading value provider of scalable storage solutions since 1982, today announced their partnership with Fusion-io, the pioneer of next generation server-attached storage memory platforms for shared data de-centralization.
Pairing Fusion’s ioMemory technology with JMR’s BlueStor™ 16 Bay PCIe Extender, connected to the BlueStor™ GPU Server provides for a high performance and scalable tiered storage system in a compact architecture. Additionally, this solution extends the host system’s PCIe bus for support of either future ioMemory upgrades or other PCIe peripheral devices, enhancing the level of work that can be accomplished on individual workstations.
Josef Rabinovitz. “JMR’s PCIe expansion and compute capabilities paired with Fusion’s ioDrive Duos enable customers with the flexibility to grow their ioMemory footprint, scaling both capacity and performance as required by application demand, while respecting budgetary considerations.”
JMR exhibited these new capabilities at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show, April 11 – 14, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Focusing on the media and broadcasting industry, JMR will demonstrate playback of stereoscopic 5K footage, straight off ioMemory in real time. Even though the demonstration will highlight a Fusion Powered BlueStor™ PCIe Extender, this high performance option can be leveraged with any of JMR’s PCIe capable BlueStor™ or SilverStor™ storage or server solutions.
The integration of ioMemory into JMR appliances delivers flexible high performance tiered storage solutions. Fusion ioDrive Duo PCIe based ioMemory combines gigabytes per second of sustained bandwidth with very low latency and hundreds of thousands of simultaneous IOPS. The ioDrive Duo, scaling up to 1.28TB of non-volatile Flash memory per drive, delivers significant benefits beyond just speed including a small form factor that is half-length, full height x8 PCI Express board, with a low power consumption footprint per IOP. Furthermore, Fusion-io’s advanced software design and hardware architecture offers several levels of redundancy and industry leading reliability against data loss or corruption by with 39 bit ECC, global parity memory dies and protection for ungraceful shutdowns or brownout events.
“We’re excited to see a respected leader like JMR choosing ioMemory to meet the performance expectations of their cutting edge customers,” said Fusion-io’s Jim Dawson, EVP of Sales. “Whether used in video streaming applications like real time playback of stereoscopic 5K footage or accelerating business-critical databases, ioMemory offers versatility and value for entertainment production.”
Key features of the Fusion-io ioDrive Duo and JMR’s storage solutions include:
* High performance tiered storage solutions
* Small footprint
* Bolstered capacity
* Easy to use, reliable solution
* Extended PCI Express bus on host to support additional ioMemory memory or peripherals
* Decreased transcode/encode times
