LG finds 37% of Britons tempted to buy a 3D TV for 2012 Olympics
Research reveals that next year’s sporting events will tempt almost two thirds of Britons to buy a 3D TV
37% of people claim that the London Olympics 2012 will encourage them to buy a 3D TV
25% of people said that the Euro 2012 will tempt them into buying a 3D TV
Whilst Brits are keen to experience 3D, one in four people in the UK have still not seen a 3D film in the cinema yet
LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, reveals today that over a third (37%) of Britons say that the 2012 Olympics would tempt them to buy a 3D TV next year, with another 25% saying that the Euro 2012 would also make them consider moving to a new dimension.
The survey of 2,000 people, conducted by LG, also showed that over half of respondents said that the next TV they buy will be 3D capable, suggesting that Britons are really embracing 3D technology.
LG has recently expanded its extensive 3D offering by bringing consumers its new Cinema 3D™ TV, the world’s first flicker-free 3D TV range (LW450U, LW550T and LW650T series). LG’s Cinema 3D™ TVs use polarised glasses, the same as those used in most 3D cinemas nationwide, providing consumers with the most enjoyable 3D experience in screen sizes ranging from 32 to 55 inch.
To share the experience, each Cinema 3D™ TV is sold with seven pairs of glasses, with extra pairs available to buy from just £2. The lightweight frames are comfortable to wear and don’t require batteries, charging or synchronisation with the TV. The ultra wide viewing angle also means that friends and family can enjoy the magic of 3D together, in stunning full HD.
With even more films coming to the cinema in 3D this year, LG’s survey shows that 65% of people think that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 will be the most successful 3D film at the cinema this year – adding even greater impact to the already successful film series. The growing number of 3D films means there’s no better time for families to think about upgrading their TVs to add a third dimension to their living rooms.
To give consumers the chance to see LG’s new 3D TVs in a home environment, LG will also be showcasing its home entertainment range in the Life’s Good Lounge Tour, beginning on Friday 22nd April. The tour, which will visit shopping centre locations** across the country from 22nd April – 26th June will give consumers the chance to experience the latest and greatest in 3D and Smart TV technology.
Stephen Gater, CE Marketing Director, commented: “With almost two thirds of people saying that they’re looking to upgrade their TVs ahead of next year’s sporting events it’s a really exciting time for LG. We strongly believe in the real benefits that our unique Cinema 3D™ TV range brings to consumer’s homes.”
