Barco Delivers 3D Immersive Visualization for Dassault Systèmes’ 3D Executive Briefing Center in North America
Visualization pioneer Barco is providing an immersive, custom-designed visual display system, serving as the centerpiece of Dassault Systèmes’ high-profile Experience Briefing Center housed within its brand new North American headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts. Dassault Systèmes chose Barco’s sophisticated 3D visualization solution in keeping with its commitment to leading-edge sustainable technology and ergonomic design aesthetics, which are reflected throughout the new 27-acre corporate campus.
A world leader in 3D design software, 3D Digital Mock Up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, Dassault Systèmes has embraced Barco’s immersive visualization and collaboration system to demonstrate its industry-leading 3DEXPERIENCE platform, aimed at accurately rendering high-quality 3D content for designers, engineers, marketers and teams of decision-makers. These applications include 3DVIA for Product Communications and Training applications, CATIA for 3D Digital Product Experience, DELMIA for Digital Manufacturing and Production and SIMULIA for Virtual Simulation.
3D visualization enhances the customer experience
Barco is a Core Technology Alliance Partner of Dassault Systèmes and previously installed a similar system at the company’s corporate headquarters in Velizy, France. Dassault Systèmes’ customers are among many of the world’s most innovative companies, from leading automotive and aerospace corporations, to consumer goods, construction and engineering manufacturers. With the expanded partnership, the two companies will continue to work to raise industry awareness on the importance of 3D stereo visualization and collaborative applications not only for engineering and design but also for cultural and educational purposes.
“Our new Experience Briefing Center offers an incredibly powerful demonstration of 3D, with unmatched visual quality and fidelity,” comments Al Bunshaft, Senior Vice President of Dassault Systèmes’ Americas Corporation. “The new Barco display system is an integral part in immersing our customers in a 3D environment where they can virtually experience real world situations, improve collaboration and design better products and solutions for their end users.”
Versatile design for a multitude of applications
Barco’s Powerwall concept is a collaborative, multi-channel 3D stereo display system with a high pixel density, consisting completely of integrated Barco technology, from projectors to screens. Users can visualize multiple image sources simultaneously at extremely high resolution, in any combination of mono and 3D stereo, while Barco-patented stereoscopic filtering technology delivers uncompromised image quality, regardless of screen type. Dassault Systèmes is using a modified version of Barco’s Powerwall, called a Reconfigurable Cave Display, which enables reconfiguration of the system from a cave to a Powerwall to enhance its functionality for a multitude of applications. Outfitted with Barco’s Galaxy NW-12 projectors, the system offers high-performance stereoscopic viewing of 3D images, featuring 12,000 lumens brightness and WUXGA resolution, and is easily controlled via a familiar Windows desktop. Multi-projector integration is optimized via Barco’s unique DynaColor and linked constant light output, edge blending and warping capabilities.
A strong, creative alliance
“Our long-standing relationship with Dassault Systèmes has afforded us unique opportunities for collaboration based on mutual respect and a passion for sustainable product engineering,” commented Steve Leyland, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Advanced Visualization Systems for Barco. “We are confident that our visualization solutions will dynamically showcase Dassault’s elite software tools, while representing their sophisticated brand in the best possible light.”
