Experts in stereoscopic cinema at the annual Stereoscopic Displays and Applications (SD&A) conference – the world’s premier conference for 3D innovation – announced the winners of the annual 3D Theater session held February 4, 2013. The SD&A conference is held as part of the annual Electronic Imaging Symposium coordinated by the professional societies IS&T and SPIE.
The large audience at the two-hour SD&A 3D Theater session were treated to a varied selection of 42 different 3D content segments highlighting a wide range of styles from 3D content producers from around the world.
This year’s judges of the SD&A 3D Theater session were: Eric Kurland, stereographer on the Oscar nominated “Maggie Simpson in The Longest Daycare” from 3-DIY and president of the Los Angeles 3-D Club; Jason Goodman, stereographer on “The Amazing Spider-Man” from 21st Century 3D; and Lenny Lipton, founder of StereoGraphics Corp. and former CTO of RealD. The judges were impressed with the high quality and inventiveness of the content, and had a challenging task to choose the winning entries from among a strong field.
