Dimenco Introduces Nabla for Full HD 2D and Glasses-Free 3D Display
Dimenco introduces Nabla; delivering the ultimate glasses-free FHD 3D experience
Dimenco Nabla, a unique combination of lens design and image processing, delivers unprecedented FHD resolution in both 2D and glasses-free 3D. Combined with Dimenco Clear View the best depth performance, widest viewing angle, lowest cross-talk and deepest black levels are achieved.
Dimenco, the leading technology company in the field of glasses-free 3D displays, today unveiled Dimenco Nabla delivering the ultimate FHD glasses-free 3D experience.
“Dimenco Nabla is the result of optimizing the proprietary Dimenco lenticular structure in combination with UD (3840X2160) panels. This provides the first glasses-free 3D FHD experience without compromising on, for example, brightness or viewing angle.” said Jan van der Horst, CTO of Dimenco.
Until now, 3D auto-stereoscopic (glasses-free) displays always had to compromise significant on perceived resolution. The reason was that with conventional lenticular structures multi-view visualization heavily impacted the 3D resolution. This resulted in glasses-free 3D displays with reduced sharpness to still create a convenient 3D experience. Next to this, legibility of small details in 2D was significantly reduced and the lens structure was significantly visible.
Dimenco Nabla, solves these compromises via its unique lens design and image processing. The optical stack and structure has been optimized to improve the perceived 2D and 3D resolution and limit interference of the lens structure. By combining Dimenco Nabla and Dimenco Clear View for the first time people can experience glasses-free FHD 3D with the deepest black levels, no brightness loss, widest viewing angle and lowest cross-talk, offering the ultimate glasses-free 3D displays.
“Dimenco Nabla will open-up the glasses-free 3D TV market and will offer the best auto-stereoscopic FHD 3D experience and still offer FHD 2D. Dimenco has overcome one of the biggest hurdles for watching 3D without limitations, and we expect that this technology will enter the consumer market in 2013,” says Maarten Tobias, CEO of Dimenco
Dimenco Nabla will be demonstrated during CES (8th – 11th January 2013 – Las Vegas) at a private suite in the MGM Grand. The technology is ready for licensing, and 3D display products can be acquired via Dimenco.
Besides introducing Dimenco Nabla, Dimenco will demonstrate multiple new products and innovations during CES, under which a glasses-free 3D Retina MacBook and a 11.6” glasses-free 3D display that can be used both in portrait as landscape mode. Next to this Dimenco will demonstrate products that include Dolby3D, Dimenco Dynamic View technology and Dimenco Clear View.
