DDD Group Signs 2D-to-3D Conversion Patent License Agreement with Samsung
DDD Group plc (AIM: DDD), the 3D consumer technology licensing group, has signed a patent license agreement with Samsung Electronics Company Ltd. (“Samsung”) to allow Samsung to perform offline 2D to 3D video conversion.
The patent license agreement allows Samsung to perform the conversion using the comprehensive claims contained in the patents covering 2D to 3D conversion that are owned by DDD.
Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD said: “This latest license agreement with Samsung is the first for DDD that focuses solely on licensing the intellectual property rights of our international patent library that cover key techniques for 2D to 3D conversion, encoding, decoding and 3D image rendering. The agreement represents a further step in our planned evolution from technology development and licensing into patent licensing as the 3D market continues to mature.”
