Thurs 8 Nov + Fri 9 Nov | 10am – 5.30pm | Truro College Open Learning Centre
This is a single-day workshop delivered in partnership with Cornwall Film Festival and runs alongside the Festival itself on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th November. It covers basic stereo 3D principles, 3D camera and display technology, provides some hands-on filming and basic 3D editing all in a single day!
We start by explaining the factors which produce good and bad 3D viewing experiences and give some tips for good filming as well as do’s and don’ts for current best practice.
We then cover current stereo 3D technology, capture and display standards, 3D cameras systems, 3D displays with some examples of current 3D equipment provided in the workshop.
We move on to do some 3D filming exercises and review the footage live on 3D TV’s and monitors.
Finally we ingest the 3D footage and do some basic 3D post-production work, such as disparity corrections and a simple edit, before outputting a short 3D film.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a memory stick along to take a copy of the film away at the end of the day.
This scheme has been funded by the Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund as part of ‘A Bigger Future 2’, the UK film skills strategy. The Creative Skillset Film Skills Fund is supported by the National Lottery through the BFI and the film industry through the Skills Investment Fund.
