The 3D user interface (3DUI) integrates 3D display, depth camera and gesture recognition as an intuitive and convenient interface.
The core technology and features include the following items: (1) Active depth camera: employs dual-camera and IR projection to capture the depth image of target objects. This technology is workable and reliable even in dim light environment. (2) Depth processing and gesture recognition: separating background data from depth image to obtain foreground 3D human gesture as an input device. (3) Air touch: a combination of a floating display and a depth camera is used to display a virtual panel and provide finger touch interface for interaction.
Applied objects / Circumstance:
The 3D UI could be applied on 3D game, interactive digital signage and TV control, and air touch system is especially suitable to be used in ATM and hospital operation system.
The 3D UI provides natural human interface which is intuitive and reliable for 3D interaction. The Air Touch system is a novel interaction device, offering non-contact finger detection and limited viewpoint for operating on a virtual panel, which is suitable for user’s privacy and hygiene issues.
