Ben Dolphin Presents 3D Techniques Using Vision Research’s Phantom Flex High-Speed Cameras at 2012 NAB Show

Vision Research is bringing in Director, cinematographer and 3D specialist Ben Dolphin to their booth (#C7843) at the 2012 NAB Show on Tuesday, April 17th. Dolphin, owner of Arising Film and Digital, will be showcasing the cutting edge 3D techniques he captures using Vision Research’s Phantom® Flex digital high-speed cameras.
An early adopter of the Phantom cameras, Dolphin simultaneously uses a duo of Vision Research cameras to shoot 3D product advertisements featuring many well-known household brands, his forte is in using liquids in unusual ways. His techniques bring an eye-catching new fun factor to ads, and have been known to increase audience engagement and memory retention of the product.
At the booth Dolphin will display footage and answer questions on a variety of the techniques he uses including how to capture such amazing 3D footage with the Phantom cameras.
In addition to his commercial work, he has lensed several documentaries and independent feature films and been Lighting Designer for Broadway Theatres, Museums, International Festivals and Dance concerts. He directs films featuring Dancers and Musicians.
Dolphin’s High Speed Liquid Dance Film, “ARISING” premiered at the Lincoln Center Dance on Camera Festival in NYC. His film “ON ARISING” premiered at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in NYC.
Ben’s expertise as a choreographer encompasses film, television & stage productions. “Choreography for Camera” a course he created as guest artist at NYU School of the Arts, explores shooting and choreographing dance for camera. Ben is Mentor to Dance Film Association who sponsored several of his workshops in NYC.
Represented in Lincoln Center Dance Film Archives, Permanent Collection, featured in the Growth of Dance in America Biannual, Ben is a former member of Twyla Tharp and Dancers and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Additionally he danced in the Co.s of Trisha Brown, Gus Solomons Jr, Kei Takei, and his own dance Company “Mutual Respect.” Recently dancing with the Battery Dance Company and Catherine Gallant in collaborative works. He trained on full scholarship with Merce Cunningham, Martha Graham, Alwin Nikolais, Margaret Craske (ballet), and NYU School of the Arts-Dance Dept. He practices and teaches Ashtanga Yoga, Tai Chi Chuan and is a Certified Advanced Reiki Practitioner.
