SIM2 is thrilled to announce that their new NERO projector series is now shipping. This exciting new line of premium single-chip DLP projectors, which offer an amazing picture partnered with exceptional build quality, was first announced at CEDIA Expo as part of SIM2’s ‘15 for 15’ year long event.

The NERO design brings many of the technical attributes of the award-winning LUMIS 3D 3-chip series to a more affordable price point. The precision glass optics of its ALPHAPATH™ light engine have been cleverly adapted for the more affordable single chip DLP technology. The stylish LUMIS chassis, its advanced cooling system and its sophisticated electronics platform are also used. Together with the latest DLP chipset these deliver precise and accurate colour reproduction, deep black level, artefact-free motion and the ability to convey the extended depth of 3D images.

The NERO 3D models offer true 120Hz processing for 24fps 3D material such as 3D Blu-ray. This helps to eliminate flicker and makes for a more relaxing viewing experience. Superior SIM2 picture processing technology ensures smooth motion and judder-free images.

The NERO line offers consumers a choice of four models that will enhance their viewing pleasure from all video sources in a variety of room lighting levels. They have been designed for use in Reference Home Cinemas, Media Rooms and Family or Game Rooms. There are three 3D models across this flexible platform:

The NERO 3D-1: entry level model offering 1600 ANSI Lumens
The NERO 3D-2: high contrast model offering 2000 ANSI Lumens
The NERO 3D-HB: High brightness model offering 3000 ANSI Lumens

The final model in the line-up is the NERO 235, which is SIM2’s first native 2.35:1 aspect ratio projector. This will appeal to film fans, who love the cinematic experience of anamorphic cinema. It means that they will no longer need the external lens system that was previously required in order to achieve this. The NERO 235 also benefits from SIM2’s Enhanced Keystone with edge-blending, warping and spatial colour correction. As well as the latest specification HDMI 1.4 ports, it also benefits from the professional standard HD-SDI input, which can handle graphics standards up to WQXGA and 2K.

For ease of installation, a choice of three high quality glass lenses (T1, T2 and T3) is available for the NERO line, giving the projectors a total throw ratio of 1.37-3.9:1 (1.47-4.18:1 for NERO 235). These lenses are part of SIM2’s Unified Throw Ratio concept, which makes specifying and upgrading within the SIM2 line very easy. To aid calibration SIM2’s Live ColoursCalibration 2.0 software allows complete control over primary, secondary, and white-point colour coordinates in both 2D and 3D, enabling experts to accurately calibrate the final image on-screen via a user-friendly PC-based interface. The NERO comes in a contemporary soft-touch black finish.
