At IBC2011, from September 9-13, 2011 at the RAI Amsterdam, Vizrt and Vimond Media Solutions AS will demonstrate the improved integration between their respective online video platforms within the Vizrt booth (Hall 2, Stand A31.) Vizrt has partnered with Vimond to integrate its online publishing software with the Vimond Video Platform to offer broadcasters tools to control access to broadcast-quality video on demand, and easily monetize content.
Capitalize – from year-one
By leveraging the Vimond Video Platform, the Vizrt online publishing workflow provides video publishers the ability to offer “Hulu-like” websites and generate revenue through subscriptions, pay-per-view, and advertising. Its modular architecture offers sophisticated tools and controls, from ingest and encoding, through conditional access to business-intelligence reporting.
”While many broadcasters recognise that offering premium online video services offers tremendous potential for generating new revenue streams, they need a solution that will make the process easier for them,” said Petter Ole Jakobsen, Vizrt’s Chief Technical Officer. “This integrated Vizrt/Vimond platform solves their most pressing problems, such as transcoding video for optimal display on all the devices out there, controlling end-user access to that video, and obtaining payment for the service.”
The Viz Media Engine automatically transcodes and optimizes video for display on laptops, tablets, and smart phones on the market. Together with Vimond’s unique video player, it also supports dual 2D and 3D display capabilities, handing broadcasters the option of putting their 3D content on connected Blu-ray consoles, connected TVs, etc.
“The Vimond Video Platform works with the existing Vizrt online publishing workflow to help over-the-top (OTT) service providers manage and monetize the distribution of online video content,” said Helge Hoibraaten, Chief Executive Officer of Vimond Media Solutions AS. “The platform includes tools for business intelligence reporting, conditional access, and transacting end-user payments. It also supports high-quality 2D and 3D streaming to virtually any Internet-connected medium the end user may choose, including Blu-ray and gaming consoles, TVs, PCs, tablets, and mobile devices.”
Vimond control servers, which are core elements of the Vimond Video Platform, work in conjunction with Viz Media Engine transcoders to take advantage of a multitude of front-ends, all 100% customizable. The video portals can be built on HTML5, Microsoft Silverlight smooth streaming, Flash, etc.
The Vimond Video Platform is being successfully employed by many high-profile broadcast organizations, including TV 2/Norway and its award-winning online service TV 2 Sumo; TV 4/Sweden, MTV 3/Finland, and pan-Nordic distributor CMore.
