FilmLight Introduces Baselight 4.3 with Upgraded 3D Stereoscopic Tool Set
IBC 2011: Stand 7.F31
Blackboard 2 | Baselight 4.3 | Baselight for Final Cut Pro & NUKE | Truelight On-Set and AatonK
We will be giving the first European presentations of Blackboard 2, our revolutionary new grading control surface. Blackboard 2 caused quite a stir when it debuted at NAB, and since then, it has evolved into a market ready product. Your eye is drawn to the visually stunning design, but the secret to Blackboard 2 is what we call Adaptive Key Technology—every key is programmable in infinite ways. No grading surface is faster, more ergonomic or, frankly, cooler than Blackboard 2.
IBC will also mark the launch of Baselight 4.3, which brings a number of new features and performance improvements to our industry-leading grading software. Our new Baselight software release moves the technology forward on all fronts – powerful new features, unique triple headed displays and a sea change in responsiveness and productivity.
Software releases are rarely as comprehensive as Baselight 4.3 and often focus on a particular area of functionality. This version however, has a number of transforming changes including:
Intelligent render caching that transforms the responsiveness for both the colourist and the client. It’s a software solution that feels like moving ahead a generation in hardware power because render intensive processes can be controlled by the user within the timeline to massively speed up previews and deliverables.
The new object based Area Tracker dispenses with the complexity of multiple tracking points by allowing the user to simply pick an object while the software identifies its boundaries, and allows for scaling and rotation while automatically applying the grade. It has been benchmarked with great success in difficult scenes against competitive systems and proved much simpler, faster and more reliable.
Up to three separate UI monitors can be added, each being fully user configurable to show any desired arrangement of panels including the new built-in waveform and vectorscope monitoring tools.
In addition we have redesigned an already comprehensive 3D toolset to make it easier and quicker to use by automating and streamlining operations such as geometry alignment and convergence adjustments . These are made clearer by simplified timeline management that removes the scope for errors.
It’s a feature release , a productivity release AND makes its debut with the game changing technology of the new control panel – Blackboard 2.
As part of our ongoing effort to broaden access to high quality grading tools, we are pleased to introduce Baselight Plug-Ins for Final Cut Pro and NUKE (the latter will be seen at IBC for the first time). We’ll be demonstrating how these tools empower editors and visual effects artists, and how they integrate with a main Baselight system in a flexible, collaborative production environment.
Baselight TWO introduces a new price performance point to the Baselight range and also making its debut is a faster, very affordable Baselight ONE including support for Avid MC Color and MC Transport control surfaces. Attractive hardware upgrade packages will be available for existing Baselight customers.
Also on the stand…
…Truelight On-Set – See how on-set colour confidence can be achieved quickly and efficiently in today’s digital production workflows.
…AatonK, the world’s fastest true 4K film recorder
Baselight will also be used to showcase the latest Sony 4K SRMASTER™ file based workflow using media captured from the new “F65” CineAlta™ camera – Sony | Stand 12.A10.
