Oxford Scientifc Films Commissions Blue-Zoo to Create Stereoscopic 3D Titles for Meerkats 3D
We were commissioned by Oxford Scientifc Films to design and create a short title animation for their new stereoscopic 3D documentary film ‘Meerkats 3D’ for Sky 3D and National Geographic.
We wanted to avoid the stereotypical over the top gimmicks sometimes used in stereoscopic animation, and demonstrate the benefits of utilisng the extra dimension to enhance the cinematographic finesse. This was achieved with subtle lighting effects to slowly glow off the screen towards the audience, and lens artefacts which gently provided the sequence with depth and sophistocation. This was all put together using After Effects 5.5 stereo tools and the final post was finished at Onsight.
“Meerkats 3D” will be broadcast later this year on Sky 3D.
Tom Box, Co-Founder Blue-Zoo comments, “We are thrilled to be working with Oxford Scientific Films on this project and this sees Blue-Zoo move into yet another new direction in the animation world.
This short term project has allowed us to highlight our creativity and produce a first class sequence.
Blue-Zoo is currently growing from strength to strength and we look forward to similar opportunities to arise in the near future.”
