Westmead Endoscopy Symposium uses JVC 3D Monitors and ProHD Cameras for Live Demonstrations
The recent 4th Annual Endoscopy Symposium held at Sydney’s Hilton Hotel saw a radical shift in its use of technology with the adoption of JVC Professional 3D monitors, used for the first time to show images shot with JVC ProHD cameras and streamed in realtime from live theatre operations being carried out at Westmead Hospital.
Topics at this year’s symposium included enhanced endoscopic imaging, colonoscopy, core techniques, optimising adenoma detection, basic and complex polypectomy, advanced resection techniques, Barrett’s Oesophagus, detection of inconspicuous neoplasia and dysplasia, endoscopic palliation of malignancy and diagnostic and interventional endoscopic ultrasound.
Utilising the latest technology in microwave transmission ensured that one of the true hallmarks of the meeting, live high quality transmission from the Westmead Endoscopy suite, remained a feature – only this time in 3D.
JVC Professional Products Australia/New Zealand National Sales and Marketing Manager Noel Oakes explained, “The symposium, as they have in previous years, set themselves the goal of a comprehensive demonstration of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. After discussions to see how JVC Professional could best help the symposium it was decided that our 3D monitors would be placed within the halls of the show and live demonstrations would be streamed to them from operating theatres at Westmead Hospital. The demonstrations were a great success with many attendees commenting on the extra scope, clarity and depth that viewing the procedures in 3D gave them.”
The symposium program was carefully designed to be relevant and informative to all those involved in primarily diagnostic, complex interventional or surgical Endoscopic practice and included some of the most respected clinicians from abroad including Jacques Bergman, Alan Barkun, Ralf Kiesslich and Naohisa Yahagi.
Noel Oakes concluded, “With such a high level of clinicians and demonstrations at the symposium the technology used to support and further this critical side of medicine has to be nothing short of the very best available. I’m delighted to say the JVC Professional 3D monitors not only performed very well but we have subsequently had a great deal of interest from the medical fraternity as to how they can be maximised across all areas of surgical and medical procedures.”
