P+S Technik improves optical quality of its Standard Rig
Optically Improved Beam Splitter Mirror, Diagonal Support and Camera Kits keep the P+S TECHNIK Standard Rig up to date
The progression of 3D has already come a long way since Germany-based P+S TECHNIK introduced the Standard Rig in 2008. Co-developed by 3D pioneer Alain Derobe, it has been the first commercially available 3D Stereo Rig. In order to keep it up to date P+S TECHNIK improved the Standard Rig’s beam splitter mirror and designed new Camera Kits as well as a Diagonal Support for heavy broadcast cameras. These new accessories keep the Standard Rig up to date and ensure it satisfies today’s high demands and expectations of performance and stability.
NEW Improved Beam Splitter Mirror
P+S TECHNIK has significantly improved the Standard Rig’s beam splitter mirror. The Standard Rig’s new mirror features an improved coating causing much less color/luminance-shift (<1% compared to 5% using the outdated mirror version) and overall light loss (<1%). Therefore, it provides realistic and consistent color of both images. The coating is also more immune to scratches than the previous version. P+S TECHNIK compared the improved mirror to other top-end mirrors. The result was that the new mirror’s quality easily competes with much more expensive mirrors regarding luminance, color, sharpness and geometry (diffraction). The improved mirror is included with all Standard Rigs purchased from January 2011 forward. Standard Rig owners have the option to upgrade their Standard Rig with the new improved mirror. NEW Camera Kits for WEISSCAM HS-2, Arri Alexa, Sony F3 and others P+S TECHNIK is constantly developing additional kits to suit the latest cameras. Thus, there are Camera Kits for almost all cameras suitable for 3D acquisition available. The newest Camera Kits suit WEISSCAM HS-2, Arri Alexa, Sony PMW-F3, Sony HDC 1500, Panasonic AK-HC1500 and Grass Valley LDK 8000. In order to manage inevitable rolling shutter effects of Arri Alexa and Sony F3, the corresponding Camera Kits include suitable upside down plates to mount one of both cameras upside-down. Rolling shutters of cameras mounted that way are co-rotating and don’t destroy the 3D effect anymore. Because the WEISSCAM HS-2 features a Global Shutter there aren’t any rolling shutter effects, for which reason there is no need for an upside down plate. NEW Diagonal Support for heavy camera setups For Standard Rig users needing maximum rig stability P+S TECHNIK offers a Diagonal Support for the Standard Rig. This solution is especially suitable to heavy broadcast cameras and has been successfully applied for the first German football 3D-HD-Live-Production. NEW Flight-Case for Stereo 3D Rig spare mirrors This compact case is especially designed for spare mirrors. It is suitable to Standard Rig and Freestyle Rig spare mirrors and provides space for two mirrors. NEW 3D Calibration Test Chart P+S TECHNIK designed a 3D Calibration Test Chart making it quick and easy to calibrate 3D Stereo Rigs. The 3D Test Chart is printed on mat, non-reflecting and weather resistant laminate. It can be used for the calibration of all kinds of mirror rigs and comes with a user manual on its backside. www.pstechnik.de
