BBC S&PP Delivers Multi-Camera 3D – From Studio to Post Seminars
BBC Studios and Post Production (BBC S&PP) Editor Nial Brown is delivering 3D seminars at Broadcast Video Expo, the UK’s number one show for those working in production, post production and delivery and The Production Show. Both shows take place at Earls Court from Tuesday 15th to Thursday 17th February.
In the seminars Nial will give an overview of the 3D TV industry and talk about BBC S&PP’s journey through 3D, highlighting important considerations and pitfalls when shooting 3D. He will share some of BBC S&PP’s experiences in making 3D, including the Strictly Come Dancing stereoscopic 3D trail for Children in Need and recent music videos, sharing lessons learnt and best practice in a television broadcast environment.
BBC S&PP’s 3D team, along with 3Ality Digital’s Stereographer Scot Steele, provided full studio and post production services for the 3D Strictly Come Dancing trail featuring an Argentinean tango. The 3 minute 3D film was shown in selected UK cinemas and TV retailers in the run-up to the annual Children in Need appeal in November. Nial edited the trail in the Entertainment Village at Television Centre on the newly upgrade Smoke 2011 Advance.
Nial says: “3D is a really exciting area. We’ve had to learn and absorb a huge amount about the craft over the last 12 months. Creating “good 3D” content at Television Centre is now a service we can deliver with aplomb! The point of these seminars is simply to share our 3D story and give lots of real life examples (our struggles and successes) to help highlight some of the complexities and possibilities of 3D TV.”
Nial’s Multi-Camera 3D – From Studio to Post seminars take place:
* 11.00, Tues 15th Feb, Production Theatre
* 14.30, Wed 16th Feb, Post Production Theatre
* 11.00, Thurs 17th Feb, Production Theatre
Further 3D content will be shown at the BBC Studios and Post Production stand, stand 640 in the Production Show.
