Following the first partnership between Atlantic, Sir David Attenborough and Sky 3D with Flying Monsters 3D, a new collaboration has been announced today to make Penguins 3D. A dramatic look into the world of King penguins, the film promises romance, in-fighting and high drama, all set on the spectacular and uninhabited island of South Georgia.
The feature documentary will premiere on Sky 3D before being released in cinemas, including giant screen theatres, around the world. Penguins 3D will be narrated by David Attenborough and made using groundbreaking 3D technology that will be pushed to the limit in one of the world’s more challenging filming locations.
Commenting on Penguins 3D as the project was announced, David Attenborough said: “South Georgia is one of the most extraordinary and least appreciated places for wildlife in the world. King penguins are particularly interesting because they are so big that the chicks can’t grow to adult dimensions and strength to go to sea within a year. The landscape and wildlife of South Georgia is very dramatic, and I think it will look absolutely mind-blowing in 3D.”
