Sony Professional demos latest 3D and 2D LCD monitors
Sony Professional today announced new additions to its Professional LCD Monitor range broadening its complete end-to-end production workflow. By using the same reliable technology as ChromaTRU™ and 10-bit signal processing as standard Sony monitors, the latest ranges build on Sony’s experience and expertise. At IBC Sony is showcasing different 3D workflow setups to demonstrate that each and every project needs to have a tailored solution to ensure premium quality content. Part of this workflow is the latest in professional 3D monitors, the LMD-4251TD and the LMD-2451TD. Sony is also demonstrating its commitment to HD 2D quality with the launch of the new high grade LMD 41W series, the LMD-2341W and LMD-1541W, and the entry level LMD-2110W.

LMD-2451TD 24” 3D High Grade Monitor
For 3D monitoring, Sony offers two types of high performance professional LCD monitors; the LMD-4251TD (42”) and the LMD-2451TD (24”). These monitors incorporate a micro-polarizer filter attached to the LCD panel and are supplied with polarized 3D glasses. The hallmark of these monitors is their highly acclaimed Sony-unique ChromaTRU™ colour matching technology and a full-HD resolution professional LCD panel. These two professional monitors accept a variety of 3D signal formats including 3G-SDI, Dual Stream HD-SDI, HD-SDI Side-by Side, HD-SDI Line Interleave (line-by line), HD-SDI Field and Frame sequential as well as DVI-D Interleave (line-by-line) modes. Following extensive use during the summer World Cup, and incorporating end user feedback, a complete set of 3D functions is available to help users managing the 3D effects with enhanced flexibility. The 3D monitors will be commercially available in October.
Sony’s success at recent live sporting events in Germany, demonstrates its commitment to the production workflow. TopVision, the European technical service provider, opted to use Sony Professional technology during the filming of 3D football matches in Germany and was the first company in Germany to order 20 3D monitors. “3D business is really taking off”, says Eduard Palasan, Managing Director of TopVision Telekommunikation GmbH & Co. KG. “3D live productions are extremely challenging and require a great deal of experience and expertise. Our customers have very high expectations about the technology and the results. Sony Professional already has many years of experience in the 3D industry and we are delighted with the performance of Sony Professional products.”
Bringing together some of the biggest names in Broadcast, IBC is an ideal platform to launch Sony’s latest high performance 2D monitors with the high grade LMD 41W series and the entry level LMD-2110W. The LMD 41W Series consisting of two models LMD-2341W and LMD-1541W is available in space-saving 23” and 15” size with a slim bezel and aluminium body, ideal for installation in Digital Gallery. Dynamic control of source names and Tally is available through an Ethernet remote. Both monitors are equipped with the ChromaTRU™ technology and 10-bit signal processing providing accurate colours, precise gamma, stable white balance and image precision. Both monitors are equipped as standard with 3G HD-SDI, HDMI and analogue composite input. The high grade LMD 41W series is available this autumn.
The entry level video monitor comes as a wide screen 21.5” LCD full HD screen equipped with a professional studio features set and chassis and a 10-bit processing power for image precision. It contains versatile analogue video inputs, a HDMI connector and an optional SD SDI input. The LMD-2110W ensures cost effective video monitoring solution for broadcast, prosumer and industry applications and is available now.
